Part II: Seven Questions, Seven Answers with Jasmine L. Williams
Chief Operating Officer and Head Baker of Chico’s Cheesecakes Jasmine L. Williams is back for a second round of Seven Questions, Seven Answers. There’s more to this woman than meets the eye so let’s take a dive into the mind and life of this budding businesswoman!
Question #1: What’s a movie you can practically quote from start to finish?
Jasmine: ANY 90’s Black Movie but if I had to pick just ONE… Love Jones.
Question #2: What makes a person beautiful to you?
Jasmine: Their genuine spirit! You can just feel the positive vibes oozing from their pores. It’s nothing like being around a person that lights up a room without having to say a word.
Question #3: If you could ask advice from any historical figure, who would it be? What would you ask them?
Jasmine: Nathan “Uncle Nearest” Green would be my person of choice. I began my research on him a few years ago. He was the first known African-American master distiller based out of Tennessee. Legend tells it that he is the person that taught one of the most famous Whiskey makers how to make their brand. If you know me, you know that Whiskey/Bourbon is my drink of choice. If Uncle Nearest and I were able to have a conversation, I would ask him what he would have done differently if he were living today? What wisdom/advice do you think would be beneficial to thrive in this climate, seeing that much hasn’t changed?
Question #4: When you have 30 minutes of free-time, how do you pass the time?
Jasmine: I usually have a snacky snack and figure out where I want to travel to next. I have a list of countries I still need to mark off my list.
Question #5: If you could shop for free at one store, which one would you choose?
Jasmine: Any black boutique that specialized in fedoras or watches. Lord knows I love me a nice hat and watch set!
Question #6: What were your greatest failures and what did they teach you?
Jasmine: There were times when I spent too much time in a situation when I should have walked away and times I walked away when I should have given more time. During those moments, I learned that everything or every human does not need every minute of your time. I now have the discipline to know where and when to spend my time if I choose to. One of the best decisions I have made in my life.
Question #7: What was the greatest adventure in your life so far?
Jasmine: 2014. Voyage with Semester at Sea. The cruise ship was filled with over 800 students, lifelong learners, and their families. Picture a mini university on a ship. We traveled from California to 13 countries all over the world. Mexico. Japan. Vietnam. Burma. India. South Africa. Morocco. The list goes on! From getting lost in Japan and almost missing the ship to visiting Cape Coast Slave Dungeons and walking through the “Door of No Return.”, this adventure was by far the most invigorating experience of my life. That journey helped shape me as a human and I made so many wonderful connections with people across the world that I can always go visit.
